Our People

The Roadbridge approach is to encourage and mentor our personnel to develop excellence in their field and to give them the opportunity for career development.

We provide continual support for our professional staff and encourage their participation in Continuing Professional Development. All projects require induction of personnel prior to commencement and ongoing safety training and construction skills courses are provided.

Our aim is to create a great place to work and to provide our personnel with a good work/life balance.

The Roadbridge organisational structure is developed to ensure that management has an ear to the ground and that a cost focused approach is assured for all projects. The company is managed by its Executive Board of Directors who ensures that the company maintains a strategic focus.







The company employs a large team of experienced and specialist construction management staff. This team comprises Contracts Managers, Commercial Managers, Site Agents, Senior Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Safety Professionals, Quality and Environmental Professionals, Foremen, Site Engineers, Machine Operators and General Operatives.

Currently Roadbridge directly employs a labour force of approximately 1,600 people. Our approach is to employ people that display excellence in their field and to give all personnel the opportunity to improve and develop their skills. This approach is adopted for all employees across the organisation.




Such is our commitment to maintaining a dedicated workforce, that we have not experienced strike action in our 50 years of operations. This is a commitment that we will strive to maintain for the future.

Whilst we self-perform most of our project activities, Roadbridge have developed a vastly experienced, specialist supply chain. We work collaboratively to bring industry innovation, best value for the Client, by ensuring our HSEQ production and performance requirements are fully understood and met.

Conor has over 30 years’ experience working in Ireland's construction industry. Having graduated from University College Cork with a degree in Economics and Mathematics and having studied Accountancy through the A.C.C.A. he spent a brief period with C&C plc before joining Roadbridge in 1990. He became Financial Controller of the company in 1993 and was responsible for the setting up and incorporation of Roadbridge in 1999 of which he was appointed to the Board as Director with responsibility for finance. He was appointed Managing Director in 2003 and has overseen the expansion of Roadbridge in both the Irish and International Construction Markets.

Pat McCarthy

Chief Operating Officer

Pat joined Roadbridge as a Site Engineer in 1985 and has been promoted through the organisation. He was made a company director in 1999. Pat has worked with Roadbridge for over 35 years where he has acquired considerable knowledge of civil engineering methods and techniques on some major civil engineering projects such as the M8 Cashel to Mitchelstown ECI Motorway and the N8 Rathcormac/Fermoy Bypass, as well as working in overseas markets.

Colin McNamara

Director Roadbridge Nordics

Colin McNamara is a civil engineer having graduated from UCD in 2000. He spent the early part of his career with one of Ireland’s leading road design consultancy and in 2006 he joined Roadbridge as design manager on the Limerick Tunnel PPP project. Since that time Colin has gained extensive experience working on some of the largest and most complex projects delivered by Roadbridge and our partners in the areas of infrastructure, energy and commercial developments.

With a Masters in Engineering Management (UCD, 2015) and a Certificate in Leadership (UL, 2018) Colin is responsible for developing our business in Norway and Sweden. Colin is also an active member of Engineers Ireland and has a particular interest in raising awareness with students about the opportunities for careers in engineering and technology.

Morgan Sheehy

Director with responsibility for Purchasing

Morgan has over 20 years’ experience working in a contracting background. He has been responsible for the successful management/completion of various infrastructure projects for both local authorities and private industry both in Ireland and abroad. Disciplines include highways and bridges, commercial/ industrial developments, sewerage, communications and other mains services. He has a Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from University College Cork and is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland as well as achieving Eur Ing, qualification. Morgan as well as having responsibility for Procurement and HSEQ is also responsible for many infrastructural projects throughout Ireland.

Jim Mulcair

Chairman of Roadbridge Limited

Jim began work for Roadbridge in 1984, starting as a Site Engineer, Site Agent and Projects Manager before being appointed as Director in 1999. He became Chairman of Roadbridge in 2012. Jim is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland and has extensive experience in International contract procurement. His extensive project experience covers all aspects of civil engineering from Site Developments, Mining, Gas Pipelines, Motorways, etc.

Des Mulcair

Director with responsibility for Business Development

Des joined Roadbridge in 1988 as a Site Engineer, leading onto work as a Contracts Manager, before being appointed as Director in 1999. He is an experienced Chartered Engineer and manager who has worked on major motorway, gas pipeline and site development schemes in Ireland and overseas.

John Duggan

Director with responsibility for Contracting

John joined Roadbridge in 1992 and worked as a Site Engineer, progressing to Site Agent, Contracts Manager and Project Manager before being appointed as Director in 2003. He has over 30 years’ of civil engineering and construction experience with extensive background in managing and directing projects with multiple stakeholder interfaces and major traffic management. John is currently responsible for infrastructural projects in Ireland and United Kingdom.

Morgan Sheehy

Morgan has over 20 years’ experience working in a contracting background. Fionn Quinlivan

Commercial Director Ireland

Fionn joined Roadbridge in 1994 as a graduate Quantity Surveyor, progressing through the company to Commercial Manager in 1998, Estimating Manager in 2010 and Commercial Director in 2018. Over the past 25 years Fionn has gained extensive experience, both in Ireland and abroad, in the successful management of some of Roadbridge’s most prestigious projects across the Motorways, Marine, Gas Line, Sewerage and large diameter Water Main sectors.

In 2017 Fionn completed an Executive MBA with the University College Cork.

Des joined Roadbridge in 1988 as a Site Engineer, leading onto work as a Contracts Manager, before being appointed as Director in 1999. He is an experienced Chartered Engineer and manager who has worked on major motorway, gas pipeline and site development schemes in Ireland and overseas.

Michael Gallagher

Commercial Director UK

Michael has over 30 years’ of civil engineering and construction management experience, including over 20 years with Roadbridge.  He holds a BSc in Structural Engineering from Dublin Institute of Technology and Trinity College.

Through his career, Michael has gained a wide range of experience in major highway and infrastructure projects including Center Parcs Infrastructural Works - Chelmsford Effluent Pipeline - Langley Court Infrastructure Development - A477 St Clears to Red Roses Road Scheme - NM9/M10 Carlow Kilcullen Road Scheme - N11 Gorey to Arklow Road Scheme.

Michael has invaluable experience together with technical ability which enable him to develop best value for the client.

Cathal Doherty

Director of Roadbridge UK

Cathal has over 25 years’ experience in civil engineering and construction, over 20 years of which have been in a management role. He was appointed to the Roadbridge Board as UK Director in 2015.  Having worked with Roadbridge for the past 18 years he has acquired considerable knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques overcoming significant challenging on major significant projects. He is an experienced engineer and has been responsible for coordinating employer, contractor and designer interfaces as well as financial and resource management. He has excellent team building and communication skills liaising with employers, consultants and statutory bodies to encourage proactive participation, value engineering and risk management. He has a non-confrontational management approach and ability to focus project team members on delivering best value for our clients.

David Sloyan

Director of Roadbridge UK

David commenced his employment with Roadbridge in 2001. He is a Chartered Engineer and holds an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from Institute of Technology, Sligo. He was appointed to the Roadbridge Board as UK Director in 2016.

In his career to date, David has acquired outstanding experience and knowledge across the Oil & Gas, Mining, Utility and Transport Sectors in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Austrailaisa working on such projects as High Speed 2, Corrib Gas Field Development, M8 Rathcormac to Fermoy Bypass and Goro Nickel Project.

David’s excellent communication and team building skills have resulted in the delivery of multiple projects, ahead of schedule within budget. He is a hands-on, committed leader who has the natural ability to lead any team, with a particular strength to accurately plan and resource projects. David has invaluable international experience together with technical ability and welcomes the opportunity to work with project stakeholders collaboratively in the delivery of critical infrastructure projects.

Louise Mulcair

Sean Liston

Director over Plant and Macinery

With over 33 years’ experience working in a contracting background, Sean has been responsible for the successful management/completion of various infrastructure projects for both local authorities and private industry.

In 2010 Sean was appointed as plant and logistics manager which coincided with Roadbridge’s successful tendering of international projects. While an advocate of team building and partnering, Sean brings an unrivalled knowledge of large plant and machinery to his role as Director.

Martin McCormack

Director of Tendering and Estimating

Martin has 30 years’ experience in Civil Engineering & Construction and was appointed as Director with responsibility for Tendering and Estimating in 2021.

Martin joined Roadbridge as Design Co-ordinator in 2004 and has been the Procurement Manager for the Tendering & Estimating Department since 2015.

Martin has a proven track record in the development of major projects with effective leadership skills and a collaborative approach with all parties.
