Women in Construction

To wrap up ‘Women in Construction Week’ Karen, who has been driving Articulated Dump Trucks (ADT’s) for 4 years and operating Roadbridge’s Komatsu HM400-5 on HS2 for the last year, is sharing why she made the career change from Administration to Construction:

“Prior to driving ADT’s, I worked in Administration, (Skirt, Shirt & Heels) and just fancied a career change. I’ve always been an outdoors girl who likes to muck in, so working in construction suited me down to the ground. I wanted to prove to myself & others my own capabilities and strength as a woman in a male industry. It’s great that there are opportunities to always learn something new and meet new people along the journey. I always say you won’t know if you don’t try so never limit yourself 🙂” We hope Karen’s words inspire the next generation of women to join our Construction Industry.

Thanks to all of our participants for some great insight into working in the Construction Industry!
