Key Features
- Installation for a buried, single trefoil circuit, ducting system to facilitate the installation of a 132kV underground power cable and associated fibre optic cables to connect Middlemuir & Coalburn Substations
- 7km of duct route was in public highways, with 6km in agricultural land
- Liaison between the Local Authority and the motorway maintenance contractor
- Close liaison with Scottish Water around critical national assets along the ducting route; 19NO. interfaces with critical assets
- Routing through a ground water dependant terrestrial eco-system (GWDTE) and associated burn flood plain for approximately 600 meters
- A total of 85 no. service crossings were encountered; of which 44% were unchartered
- 4 n o. Special Engineering difficulties: 231m long HDD crossing Poniel Bridge, 120 m long HDD crossing Old Rail Bridge
