The road scheme comprised of 27.5km of High Quality Dual Carriageway. It also included 11.2km of standard single carriageway Athy Link Road, which will link Athy town with both the existing and new N9 roads, 13km of realigned single carriageway, 3 no. grade separated junctions and 24 no. principal structures.

- Principal quantities comprised of: 2,155,000m³ excavations, 75,000m³ rock excavation, 712,751m² of road surfacing
- Structures included: 17 no. Overbridges, 3 no. Underpasses, 2 no. Underbridges, 3 no. River bridges, Farm accommodation underpasses and culverts, Farm accommodation over bridges
- This project opened 10 months ahead of schedule.
